Kontaktstudium@lmu (language and literature didactics - teaching philologies)

  • Collaborative interdisciplinary seminars will be developed. They are aimed at pre-service teachers studying to teach at Gymnasium (German secondary school type), teacher trainees as well as teachers of German, English, French, Latin and Greek.
  • A strong focus is put on the approach to literature in class, especially on the development of children's and adolescent literature.
  • Based on this a refresher course will be established, which aims at being an interdisciplinary and continuous forum covering all training stages.

Synergies between philologies are great, but are rarely used systematically. The aim is to change this with the help of interdisciplinary courses in the subjects German, English, French, Latin and Greek: Collaboration seminars and training days are being developed as forums for cooperation between the above named subjects. A strong focus is put on the school approach to literature. A special eye is put on the development of children's and adolescent literature and media and multi-stage, interlinking conceptual work: Students and future teachers notice a great difference between the university literature approach and the approach to literature in schools. Nowadays, adolescents "scan" information, but rarely practise imaginative reading.

The training days - successfully started in July 2016 - will be held once a year. They will be linked to a refresher course which will be established, e.g. the research seminar "Verjüngte Antike - Ancient times rejuvenated" in the winter semester of 2016/17. Thus a sustainable, interdisciplinary forum is offered, in order to discuss interdisciplinary aspects with all stakeholders at all stages of teacher training. Regular reports about relevant activities will be published on a website.

The concept is created on the basis of the training days involving university lecturers, multipliers at school and teachers of all professional ranks.
