E-Learning Chemie (accompanying e-learning offers for compulsory chemistry lectures)
- The objective is to tailor chemistry courses better to the needs of pre-service teachers.
- This way basic concepts and correlations should become easier to discern.
- The project initially aims at the stage of the Lehramts-Fortgeschrittenen-Praktikum (LAF - advanced teacher traineeship) shortly before graduation.
Due to an extreme lack of time during university studies, often merely a first outline based on examples is possible. Students have to put these together into a coherent teaching system themselves. In addition some of the courses for pre-service teachers often represent only a portion of the corresponding course content for Bachelor or Master students.
The LAF traineeship shortly before the state examination combines all three main areas of chemistry (physical chemistry, inorganic and organic chemistry) in a seminar and lecture. Currently a number of new methods are designed, in order to transfer especially important subject contents for a successful implementation of the chemistry curriculum in school. In doing so, the theoretical context of experiments (e.g. special electrochemical experiments) accesses merely a fundamental basic knowledge of chemistry, but at a very high standard. The selected experiments demonstrate principal concepts and at the same time teach important methods, such as the correct scientific analysis with the help of adequate software.
At the same time and based on the feedback of pre-service teachers, lectures are reorganised in a way that better shows correlations between various special disciplines of chemistry and the related subjects of biochemistry, biology and physics. A similar approach is planned for other chemistry courses as well. Consultation and a common concept planning with the respective teaching areas would be desirable.
