Medienbildung und Digitalisierung (media education training courses)

  • The special qualification "Medienpädagogik" (media education) complements the additional subject and base qualification with individual seminars.
  • This project addresses all pre-service teachers.
  • www.kmbd-netzwerk.de combines all media education qualification offers.

There are numerous media education qualification concepts offered at LMU. KMBD (Kompetenznetzwerk Medienbildung und Digitalisierung - the Competence Network Media Education and Digitalisation) aims to combine and further develop all of these concepts and to provide a common location and infrastructure for them. The KMBD is part of the Chair of Empirical Education and Educational Psychology. The Chair offers the degree "Erweiterung Medienpädagogik - Media Education" and for a few years now also a base qualification in media education for all pre-service teachers. As a third pillar a special qualification (Profilqualifizierung) is offered since summer semester 2016. It closes the gap between the additional subject and the base qualification and offers a wide spectrum of media education qualifications:

  • Seminars about basic questions in media education and media didactics, which can be integrated in the focus area of the education science in teacher training.
  • Seminars about basic training in information technology across all fields, which enable the use of digital media in teaching at school.
  • Practical seminars for the acquisition of practical abilities, in order to competently and creatively make use of the whole spectrum of available media in everyday school life.

Since the summer semester of 2016 the KMBD can make use of two rooms in Leopoldstr. 13, which are equipped with state-of-the-art media equipment:

  • one "classroom" in which innovative teaching concepts involving media and technology can be tested
  • and one "workroom" in which students can carry out media projects and plan innovative lessons with the help of high quality media technology and media experts.
