Erweiterung von Studienoptionen: Master-Datenbank für Lehramtsabsolventen (expansion of study options: master degree database for graduates with a teaching degree)
- The objective is to give teaching students at LMU an overview of possible Master's degrees and their admission requirements.
- This project aims to inform departments which traditionally have only few points of contact with teaching degrees about the potential of Master's candidates coming from teaching degrees.
- This advisory service (database) is addressed at all pre-service teachers.
The current recruitment rates of graduates with teaching degrees in Bavaria are not very high in many subjects, especially at secondary schools (school types: Gymnasium and Realschule). In order to improve professional prospects of teaching students their degree options need to be expanded. The project focuses on developing a web-based advisory service in the form of a database, which shows possible alternative Master's degrees after taking the first state exam.
Initially the database will contain approximately 50 Master's degrees offered at LMU and show the users all their Master's options depending on their teaching degree course and chosen subjects.
In the course of the database development study and examination regulations will be analysed and those teaching degrees identified, which professionally are a suitable match for a follow up Master's degree. The chairs of the specific degree courses are consulted to determine which concrete recommendations can be given. In the course of this process, departments which so far had little or no overlaps with teaching degrees will also be informed about its qualification profiles und thus shown the potential of Master's candidates coming from teaching degrees. The second step is to develop an advisory concept to show the target group individually tailored possibilities for obtaining a Master's degree with the help of the Master's database.
